Deraeocoris ruber

Photographed and identified this morning: a red variant of Deraeocoris ruber. This is a Mirid Bug, a true bug, that flies as an adult between July and the end of September. There is a single generation each year, laying single eggs in one to two year old wood in late summer; the eggs hatch the following year.  Deraeocoris ruber feeds on small insects and aphids and is not above cannibalism. I have added it to the species lists.
