Have you joined The Great British Spring Clean yet? This is a yearly event, happening this year between the 15th and the 31st of March. Already, just two days in, individuals and groups have pledged to collect almost 360,000 bags of litter.
We are full of compliments and admiration for our visitors; we feel that everybody does their best to keep the reserve immaculate, leaving Sarah and Alan (leaders of FoSCP’s litter pickers) with very little to do some weeks.

Our header image is of Sarah and Alan, picking up litter in the rain. They have inherited the role of chief litter pickers from Pat, who retired last year at the age of ninety three. Everybody does their bit.
While much of the focus of the Great British Spring Clean is on the utility and appearance of public places, please, please can we encourage people to turn their attention to green spaces other than our reserve and help protect wildlife habitat throughout the whole of Trowbridge and Southwick.
Litter is so dangerous for wildlife; creatures are trapped, injured or poisoned by the things we throw away. Whole habitats are smothered by the build up of litter in disregarded, out-of-sight-out-of-mind corners.
Let’s be good, green, conservationist neighbours for the millions and millions of species we share our town with: join in, get litter-picking and help spring clean their habitat.
