Frank Lamerton, Friend of Southwick Country Park, ran the London Marathon last weekend in 4 hours 19 minutes and 14 seconds. Out of the 174 runners over the age of seventy, he came 13th. It was the hottest London Marathon on record and Frank came in somewhere around number 13,500 among 41,000 finishers.
He said, “It got really hard at 18 miles. After that I stopped at every water station to drink and poured water over myself. Lots of people dropped out.”
To date, he has raised £2,700 for Kidney Research UK.
Many congratulations, Frank, on an extraordinary achievement!
And just a day and a half later, he turned out with FoSCP’s work party for a morning’s hedge cutting.. . . . .
