The FoSP volunteers met in the car park at 09:30 for what was to be the last get together for 2018. The weather was on our side with some sunshine and just a gentle but chilly breeze.
Today’s task was to carry on with the cutting back of the overgrown brambles in the bottom of Sleepers Field. This task has become rather laborious and seems to be never ending. Thankfully, we have now nearly completed this section. Pat, our champion litter picker, filled her bags with the usual discarded bottles, cans, dog-poo bags, and food and crisp packets.
As this was our last working day for 2018, we broke up early to have our annual Christmas eateries, some liquid refreshments and a chit-chat around a welcome log fire (contained in an old washing machine drum). We were also joined today by Councillor Horace Prickett, our Chairperson Joan, Treasurer Pat, and Vicky & Richard (Countryside Team members) along with their new arrival, Isla.
2018 has been very successful with the amount of tasks completed, too long to list here. The new benches installed around the park have been welcomed by the park visitors and more will hopefully be installed in 2019 when funds permit. Sleepers field and the Village Green have been earmarked.
We are looking forward to the challenges ahead in the new year and cannot wait for Wednesday 9th Jan, 2019, enjoying good company and a maybe laugh or two along the way.
Merry Christmas to one and all.
