This is Chris Hogg, the warden of the nature reserve at Widbrook Wood. He attended our last committee meeting and explained that he is trying to build links between all the small conservation groups in west Wiltshire; a venture we approve of at FoSCP. He has asked us to post a message.
WEST WILTSHIRE NATURE AND WILDLIFE
Now In Real Life (IRL)!
About a year ago, we started a Facebook group for those interested in nature locally. This group now covers west Wiltshire and has 374 members. The idea was to use it to start to link people who love nature and link groups who look after it in places like Barton Farm, Southwick and Biss Meadows Country Parks, Green Lane, Widbrook, Clanger and Picket Woods, Smallbrook Meadows and all the places in between, including farms and everyone’s gardens!
Now we’re planning to meet up: first as an informal get-together, but also to see what projects we might want to carry out or collaborate on in the future. There’s also a chance to initiate a new environmental group for Trowbridge at the same time – one gap in coverage between Sustainable Warminster and Climate Friendly Bradford-on-Avon.
So, everyone is welcome. In essence it will be a chance for like minded people to meet in a pub and have a chat. It will be on Tuesday the 16th April at 7pm in the Rose & Crown, Trowbridge. The Rose & Crown is opposite Trowbridge Train Station and there’s roadside parking nearby, as well as the public car park at the start of Bradford Road, the other side of the one way system that has Holy Trinity Church in the middle.
See you there
