Early Spring Gallery

by Julie Newblé

I thought I’d send in some pictures of early spring in the Country Park for those who can no longer go there.

  1. Thank you Julie. I am really missing the park and I hope the lockdown is lifted before the fritillaries have finished flowering especially as there seem to be many this year.

    1. Fritillaries have complicated life cycles. It can take up to eight years before a seedling finally flowers – and even mature plants can suddenly become dormant for up to three years. This year it looks as though several colonies in the southern part of the park have burst into flower. It might be last year’s long hot summer – or it could be something entirely different. Who knows?
