Kestrel
There is a family of young kestrels hunting in Sleepers Field and Clive Knight has sent pictures that he took last week. If you have pictures too, send them on in: we would love to see them.

Yes I’ve also seen them over the fields behind Blind Lane. Is the increase in birds of prey in the area a threat to our small wildlife such as water voles?
No, not really. An increase in predator numbers is nearly always the result of an increase in prey species numbers. The two kind of spiral round each other. Field voles, not water voles, are favourite with kestrels.
We’ve seen a kestrel a few times (funnily enough in kestrel field!)
The name predates the park so I think there have been kestrels hunting in Kestrel Field possibly for centuries.
