Another ichneumon wasp!

Photographs and a message from Clive Knight:

On the reserve today, I saw this little black and yellow insect on a plantain leaf. Ian confirms it is an ichneumon wasp possibly Dusona circumspectans. It parasitizes small caterpillars.

It has been estimated that there are 2,500 species of ichneumon wasps native to the UK so it is highly probable that there are more than just these two species in residence in the reserve. Keep a look out for them and send us pictures if and when you find them.
