After the Wednesday Work Party had cleared away the vegetation from both sides of the dam, the contractor soon set to work.
Aided by Rich and Ali from the Countryside Team, he installed cement bags to reinforce the banks on both the pond side and the stream side, building these up to the height of the dam. The cavity in the middle was infilled with a compacted granular material while the holes in the wooden sleepers were pegged and the seam in between the sleepers, caulked.
Now all we need is a downpour to test its strength.
