The Friends have recently planted 150 primrose plug plants in one of the wooded copses in the Village Green area.

We have clumps of snowdrops all around the Park but the Friends had some funds and wanted to increase the number of spring flowers in different locations. We decided on primroses which like to grow in light shady spots such as banks and ditches and small woods.

Money has been raised over the last year by the Friends doing car boot sales and the profits from the scrap value of aluminium cans. Our annual car boot at Southwick Summer Fete is always a good way to raise funds and promote the work the Friends do all year round.

The plugs are quite small at the moment but should grow well in the damp soil and give a good show by next Spring.

  1. Really pretty flowers and a reminder that despite the awful weather, spring is just around the corner.

    1. I love them. Sarah and Pat worked really hard to raise the money so that we could buy plugs rather than seed; let’s hope the plants settle in and spread.
