We are half way through National Mammal Week! Who knew?
We have twenty eight mammals on our species lists:
seven rodents;
common shrew field vole wood mouse brown rat grey squirrel pygmy shrew water vole
four mustelids;
otter badger weasel stoat
two cervids;
roe muntjac
two leporids;
rabbit hare
a canid, an erinaceidae;
fox hedgehog
and eleven of Britain’s eighteen species of bats.

An impressive collection!
It is! The park offers a wide range of habitats, a fair few of which are listed as priorities under the UK BAP. The thing that people don’t seem to realise is that this protected habitat doesn’t end at the Lambrok but runs up the hill toward Church Lane through the fields where they are planning to build houses.
There are three deer that hide up in the bushes in that field.
