Please, don’t do handbrake turns in our car park!Continue reading “Handbrake turns”
You may have noticed the enormous heap of road-planings that spent a while in the far corner of the car park taking up several parking spaces.
Last week they were used to resurface the main car park, to establish a paved track through the bottom of the Arboretum where the rubbish lorry turns, and to fill some of our muddiest patches.
The car park had to be closed for a few days because the weather was too hot for the planings to harden properly. Thank you for your patience.
Hopefully, the new surface will see us safely through the coming winter.
But SCP is still open.
A message from the Countryside Team:
Is the park open? Yes, I would think it still can be open but access will be on foot and people will need to walk to it from their home address and once there, would need to apply the social distance of two meters. They shouldn’t be meeting up with people from outside their own place of residence and should be taking only one walk a day.
If everybody sticks to the guidelines, then I see no reason why Southwick Country Park has to be closed at present. Obviously if the government advice changes then we will need to take what ever action they recommend.
Go safely and look after yourselves.

To all of the Country Park Team and all the wonderful extra helpers.
Joan and I would just like to extend our very biggest thanks to all concerned for the marvellous work that you performed on Sunday. We pulled in to the Country Parkon our way back today and were astounded by the amount and quality of the work you had done. Talk about “Dog poo fairies,” we reckon it was the action of “CAR PARK SUPER HEROES”.
Thank you all so much and we promise to be with you in March. See you Wednesday.
