Somebody thought it was a good idea to hold a firework party in the park!

Firstly, we don’t think that a Local Nature Reserve is the right place to hold a firework party and are rather surprised to find that there are people who do. Secondly, whoever did hold the party left all the burned out fireworks and their packaging in Lambrok Meadow, no further than ten strides from a litter bin.

We don’t want a parade of signs at the park’s entrance telling people what they can and can’t do: no quad biking, no drones, no camping, no book burning, don’t damage the trees, don’t kill the wildlife, no fireworks, no hop, no skip and definitely no jump. We would just like people to use a little common sense sometimes.

Thank you.

  1. Did the vandals come from Melksham? It would seem a long way to come to find a quiet place to hold their party! Perhaps you can trace something from the receipt?

    1. I don’t think any bye-laws have been broken; it’s just more thoughtless behaviour on the part of people who don’t seem to understand how to treat our wild places.

  2. I expect you’re right, thoughtfulness and empathy seem to be in short supply among some these days.
